Second chance for truck buyers: European Court confirms 880 million fine on Scania

On February 1, 2024, the Court of Justice of the European Union ratified the decision to fine Scania 880 million euros, rejecting their appeal and thus upholding the European Commission’s decision.

This measure paves the way for those harmed by the cartel who have not yet taken action for compensation and who can now take action against Scania even if they have purchased trucks from other suppliers.

Libra has launched a campaign that allows companies and individuals who have been harmed by the cartel to assign their potential compensation claim for a fee proportionate to the number of trucks purchased during the cartel period and meeting the eligibility criteria.

This campaign, active from April 1 until the available ceiling is exhausted, offers members the opportunity to receive an immediate settlement without having to wait for the outcome of legal action against truck manufacturers.

With more than one million vehicles on target, Libra aims to bring value back to Italian companies victimized by the cartel’s competition-distorting conduct.

Companies that purchased trucks over 6 tons between 1997 and 2012 can join the campaign. More information is provided in the case sheet, and Libra consultants are available to support interested companies.
