The Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan on June 12, 2023, was the stage for an important opportunity to discuss the issue of Class Action in Italy. Organized by Altroconsumo, the event offered a platform to explore the evolutions, prospects and criticalities of this legal instrument that is increasingly relevant in the Italian context.
Speakers who enriched the panel included Francesco Consoli, CEO of Libra Claims, who spoke with some insights on litigation finance and book building in the Italian market, delving into the role of these instruments in the context of class actions and with respect to the transposition of EU Directive 2020/1828.
Among the topics covered, several issues were addressed, such as those related to the problems still open following the implementation of the directive. This was followed by a focus on the role of the Competition Authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato – AGCM), and then continued with a discussion between different actors regarding Class Action, particularly management at the national level or with the involvement of several countries, thus creating a “cross border” dimension.
Thanks to the contribution of several experts, it was possible to reflect on the current state and future of Class Action, with particular attention to the Italian context.
